Daikin Mini Split Remote Symbols Explained
Daikin is one of the most popular mini split brands. One of the reasons is Daikin mini splits have a lot of functions and features that can be activated using their remote controller.
However, some of the symbols are not common among other mini splits. So, many owners want to understand what each of the symbols displayed on the remote controller means.
Thus, I studied the most complicated Daikin mini split remote controller and list down all of the symbols, icons and modes with a quick explanation.

Thermometer Symbol
The thermometer symbol on the Daikin mini split remote controller is an indicative symbol. It shows that the mini split is operating based on the temperature you set on the remote controller.

Intelligent Eye Symbol
The Intelligent Eye symbol on the Daikin mini split remote controller indicates the mini split will scan for human movement using the “eye” on the indoor unit. If there’s no movement detected in the room for more than 20 minutes, the unit automatically enters energy saving operation. When the energy saving operation is activated, the Intelligent Eye lamp on the mini split goes off.

2-Area Intelligent Eye Symbol
After enabling the Intelligent Eye function, you can also set the mini split to avoid blowing the air directly to people or directly blow at the people. When this function is first pressed, the symbol will show only the top arrow, indicating do not blow directly on people. Press it again and the symbol will switch to the bottom arrow, indicating blow directly on people.

ECONO Mode Symbol
The ECONO function on the Daikin mini split remote controller indicates the mini split is now limiting the maximum power consumption to enable efficient operation and save energy. However, if the power consumption is already low, this function will not reduce the power consumption any further. In this mode, the mini split cooling/heating capacity is reduced.

Quiet Outdoor Symbol
When the ECONO function is pressed again, the Quiet Outdoor symbol will appear on the Daikin mini split remote controller LCD screen. This function lowers the noise level of the outdoor unit by changing the frequency and fan speed of the outdoor unit. If the mini split is already operating at reduced levels, this function will not reduce the frequency nor fan speed any further.

Comfort Airflow Symbol
The Comfort Airflow symbol appears on the Daikin mini split remote controller LCD screen indicates that the indoor unit flaps will go up, directing the airflow upward in cooling mode. In heating mode, the flaps will go down, directing the airflow downward. This function provides a comfortable airflow that will not come in direct contact with people.

Clean Symbol
When the Clean symbol appears on the Daikin mini split remote controller, it indicates that the Clean function is enabled. The Clean function dries the interior of the indoor unit to reduce the amount of condensation present using the fan and heat operation. During the cleaning process, the flaps may close to increase the drying effect and the duration last 140 minutes.

Powerful Symbol
The Powerful symbol on the Daikin mini split remote controller enables maximum cooling or heating effect. In this mode, the air conditioner operates at maximum fan speed and lowest (cooling) or highest (heating) temperature setting. The Powerful mode automatically ends after 20 minutes and reverts back to the previous settings.

Low Battery Symbol
When the Low Battery symbol is blinking on the Daikin mini split remote controller, it means that your remote controller battery is low and a replacement is needed. Even when the Low Battery symbol is blinking, the OFF button remains functional.

Quiet Mode Symbol
When the Quiet Mode symbol appears on the Daikin mini split remote controller, the quiet operation starts and the noise from the indoor unit will become lower. In this mode, the fan speed is set to an exclusively-low level, often lower than what you can set manually.

Up/Down Auto Swing Symbol
When the Up/Down Auto Swing symbol is displayed on the Daikin mini split remote controller, the mini split vane moves up and down intermittently. The 3-D airflow feature is enabled when this and the below symbols are activated together.

Left/Right Auto Swing Symbol
When the Left/Right Auto Swing symbol is displayed on the Daikin mini split remote controller, the mini split vane moves left and right intermittently. The 3-D airflow feature is enabled when this and the above symbols are activated together.

Auto Mode Symbol
When the Auto Mode symbol is displayed on the Daikin mini split remote controller, the mini split automatically changeover between cooling and heating according to the room temperature and the set temperature at start-up.

Cool Mode Symbol
Cool Mode is the default operation mode of Daikin mini splits. When the Cool Mode symbol is displayed on the Daikin mini split remote controller, the mini split cools the room temperature based on the set temperature. Dehumidification is done during the cooling process.

Dry Mode Symbol
When the Dry Mode symbol is displayed on the Daikin mini split remote controller, the mini split prioritises dehumidification over cooling. The airflow is automatically controlled in this mode.

Standard Symbol
The Standard symbol on the Daikin mini split remote controller only appears on the LCD screen when you enable the Dry Mode. It indicates the mini split is now operating based on the set Dry Mode settings.

Heat Mode Symbol
When the Heat Mode symbol is displayed on the Daikin mini split remote controller, the mini split heats the room temperature based on the set temperature. The Defrost function may active automatically depending on the outside air temperature.

Fan Mode Symbol
When the Fan Mode symbol is displayed on the Daikin mini split remote controller, the mini split does not cool or heat the room. The compressor does not operate. Only the indoor fan blower operates to circulate the air in your room.

Timer Symbol
A bunch of time and date symbols on the Daikin mini split remote controller is the Timer symbol. You can set a weekly on/off schedule or a daily schedule by pressing the timer button on the remote controller.

All of the above Daikin mini split remote symbols can be found in the respective mini split remote controller user manual that should come with the mini split system. Using the function at the right time can help improve comfort while saving more energy.
