Compressor, Efficiency and Operating Range

AUX mini splits use Hitachi Highly and Toshiba GMCC compressors which are reliable and widely available. These compressors are also found in other mini splits.

The J-Smart AUX mini splits have an efficiency of SEER 17 for cooling and HSPF 9 for heating which is on par with many entry-level mini splits including Daikin 17, Fujitsu Infinite Comfort and Mitsubishi MSZ-JP.

AUX mini splits can comfortably produce warm air down to an ambient air temperature of 19.4°F. The AUX indoor unit noise level is controlled under 30 dB which is on par with many of its rivals.

Indoor Unit, Remote Controller and Features

The front panel of the indoor unit of AUX mini splits has LEDs that conveniently display the temperature. The unit’s air outlet has horizontal and vertical grilles for airflow direction control.

AUX mini splits come with a backlit remote controller. The backlight automatically turns off after some time which is good for sleep. Using the remote controller, you change the operation mode of AUX mini splits between Auto, Cool, Heat, Dry and Fan.

The remote controller also can be used to turn on the iClean function which cleans the evaporator coil. AUX mini splits also come with an ECO mode that saves energy. In addition, the Health function can be turned on to activate negative ions.

Refrigerant and Environmental Impact

AUX mini splits use R410A refrigerant, a non-flammable refrigerant that does not contribute to ozone depletion.

Installation Kit

AUX mini splits come with a 12 ft or 25 ft line set, an 8 ft electrical wire for the outdoor unit, a drain pipe for the indoor unit, plastic pipe wrap, wall bracket for the indoor unit and neoprene putty to seal holes.

Warranty

AUX mini splits have 5 years warranty on compressor and 1 year warranty on parts. Labor warranty subject to individual installer or contractor.

Final Verdict

I think AUX mini splits are acceptable given their price. I consider them entry-level mini splits which means that you should not expect high efficiency and great heating performance. At 19.4°F, the heating performance is not good enough for cold climates but acceptable if your place hardly falls below freezing. The WiFi connection seems easy to navigate and AUX also provides good user manuals. Overall, I think AUX mini splits are a bargain and they provide great value if you’re looking for something basic and functional.
